Vintage variation in the Bordeaux wine region has been a popular point of study at educational tastings we've held in San Diego in years past. Challenges arising at critical points in a growing season can include spring frosts, summer hail, prolonged heat waves and other pesky turns Mother Nature might decide to take. These are years where the experience and stamp of the winemaker can make a vintage shine.  

We will be exploring the role of the winemaker with select vintages from First Growth chateaux.

The educational component will be presented by two teams of Commandeurs, with 10 minutes each to present the wines of the evening. Attendees will be challenged to guess the chateau and vintage of our dinner wines.

Candidate-Commandeur and owner of The French Gourmet, Michel Malecot, is preparing a special menu to pair with our wines.
